WHAT IS ODP?

USYS pdf file

The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is the US Youth Soccer's national program of identifying talented girls and boys to compete on district, state, regional and national teams.

  • Players try-out for district pools in their birth-year group beginning at age 12
  • Older age groups are scouted or recommended by coaches
  • Program requires commitment, hard work and travel
  • Provides players the opportunity to play with some of the most talented in their state
  • Allows exposure of the player to various coaches to increase their development
  • Provides exposure to college and national coaches to the serious athlete

District Pools vie for spots on State teams. These teams train once a month (usually in Nashville).    Tennessee State Team members travel to neighboring states (NC, GA, AL, KY) to compete against those state squads in "sub-regional" events.  ODP hold mini camps and week long Regional Camps in the summer.  From these camps regional rosters are filled.  The ladder climbs all the way to the US National squad that competes in the World Cup!

District Try-Outs for 12 year olds are held locally in the Fall
